College of Public Health Department of Community and Behavioral Health University of Iowa Prevention Research Center (PRC) Active Ottumwa Research Assistant   Location Ottumwa, Iowa (Active Ottumwa office 205 East Main Street) Position Summary: The University of Iowa Prevention Research Center will be hiring a research assistant to support the intervention activities of our Active Ottumwa research project located in Ottumwa, Iowa. Active Ottumwa¹s goal is to increase the physical activity of adult residents in Ottumwa. Research assistants assist with the intervention aspect of this project by supporting the PALs (physical activity leaders) at their activities when needed and attend Active Ottumwa community events. Research assistants will work under the supervision of the AO field coordinator and will contribute with basic administrative duties as needed. Responsibilities include: Assisting with the Active Ottumwa intervention by helping volunteer Physical Activity Leaders with their activities, in addition to Active Ottumwa community events i.e. helping at an event by handing out flyers and or providing water. Assist with basic office administrative tasks as needed by Field Coordinator i.e. helping to file paperwork and enter participant data. Translating English to Spanish on calendars and flyers. Distribution of calendars and flyers at businesses in Ottumwa. Other duties as assigned. 10-15 hours per week, $15.00 per hour. Position will be for 1 year. Qualifications Bi-lingual Spanish skills required Strong communication and interpersonal skills Detail oriented Basic computer skills are required. Flexible schedule: available afternoons, evenings and weekends Reliable and needs own transportation.
